AKRON, Ohio — The Princess Night Project is coming to Akron in March to give area students the chance to pick out their perfect prom dress for free.
According to a release from Altrusa International, since the event's inception in 2001, nearly 2000 girls have received a free prom dress to help them in their quest to have a perfect prom night!
The event will be held in Akron on Saturday, March 12, at the Kohl Family YMCA from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the dresses are first come first serve.
Altrusa International officials will simply ask each girl for the name of her school and how she heard about the event, and then personal shoppers will help the lucky girls choose from more than 1000 gowns hanging up by size.
Additionally, if a dress needs alterations, Altrusa will have seamstresses to help make minor adjustments.
Girls will also have a wide array of shoes, purses, jewelry and other accessories to choose from at this event. Please note that masks will be required due to COVID-19.
At this time, the organization is also accepting donations of gently used gowns, shoes, jewelry, purses and wraps. Anyone who would like to donate can do so by bringing their items to the Kohl Family YMCA on Friday, March 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donations are tax deductible.
