Police say the incident happened at around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3, when eyewitnesses saw three masked men wearing jumpsuits trying to break into the ATM.

The group of individuals reportedly attached a chain from a 2000 Ford F350 pick-up truck to the machine, which forcefully pulled open the ATM, causing damage

"Onlookers, sensing the criminal activity, immediately notified the police. This rapid communication allowed officers to reach the scene while the crime was in progress. As the officers intervened, the suspects tried to escape, leaving the pick-up truck, which was later identified as a vehicle stolen from Stark County. After a short chase, officers managed to apprehend one of the thieves," said Springfield Township police officials in a press release.

24-year-old Tyrique Davis of Texas, who was arrested in connection to the incident, is being held at the Summit County Jail and is charged with receiving stolen property theft, vandalism, possessing criminal tools and obstructing official business.

According to Springfield Township Police, the ATM's cash contents were recovered. Additionally, the Springfield Township Police Department is working with nearby jurisdictions to see if the group is connected to any similar criminal activity in the area.

The Springfield Township Police Department is asking anyone who might have seen any suspicious activities around the said time and location to contact Detective Simms at 330-734-4103.
