Body found in alley behind Akron home identified as 13-year-old girl

Authorities say the female victim had 'no apparent signs of trauma.'

AKRON, Ohio — An investigation is underway after a body was found in an Akron neighborhood Monday afternoon.

Police say a resident called 911 and reported finding the remains in an alleyway behind a home on the 400 block of South Arlington Street. Officers responded to the scene around 12:55 p.m. and found "no apparent signs of trauma."

In an update Tuesday morning, Akron police say the person has been identified as a 13-year-old girl from Akron.

"The subject's name is being withheld at this time," police added.

The Summit County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine exactly how she died. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to either call the Akron Police Department's detective bureau at (330) 375-2490 or provide anonymous tips to either of the following:
