Akron Police: Clerk fatally shot robbery suspect at beauty suppply store

A second suspect is wanted by police for his role in the attempted robbery.

AKRON, Ohio — Police in Akron are investigating the attempted robbery of the Royal Beauty Supply Store that resulted in a clerk fatally shooting one of the suspects. 

The incident happened on Friday evening just after 7:00 p.m. in the 900 block of S. Arlington St. Police say there were two employees in the store when two masked male suspects, armed with guns, walked in and tried to rob them. 

One of the clerks, a 26-year-old man, pulled out his gun and fatally shot one of the suspects. The other suspect left the scene and is wanted by police. He was wearing all dark clothing and had a mask covering his face. No other description has been provided.

The name of the suspect who was fatally shot has not been released, pending family notification. An autopsy will be conducted by the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office.
