AKRON, Ohio — Just a few days after LeBron James called for justice in the shooting death of 37-year-old Ericka Weems in Akron, the Cleveland Cavaliers have stepped up to offer a $10,000 reward in the case.

The Akron Police Department also announced Tuesday that an additional $5,000 is being offered by the Summit County Crime Stoppers, which brings the total reward to $15,000.

Weems was found with gunshot wounds at a home in the 900 block of Hardesty Boulevard back on Nov. 2. She was later pronounced dead at the scene. No suspects have been arrested at this time as the investigation continues.

She is the sister of Brandon Weems, a former St. Vincent St. Mary basketball teammate, which sparked the following tweet from James on social media:

"AKRON OHIO!! My brother’s sister was murdered this past weekend in her home! My brother family need answers to why and by whom. My city I need y’all to go to work and find out who did this awful, shameful, disgusting thing to such a caring, loving angel! #Justice4EricaWeems"

Anybody with information is asked to call the Akron Police Department Detective Bureau immediately at at 330-375-2490 or 330-375-2Tip. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
