AKRON, Ohio — An investigation is underway following the shooting death of a 23-year-old man in Akron.
Officials responded to a shooting that happened at the 1100 block of Becker Lane at around 4:25 p.m. on Tuesday.
Upon arrival, officials found a 23-year-old male in a field on Tarson Terrace.
He was taken to Summa Health Akron City Hospital with multiple gunshot wounds where he later died at 4:48 p.m. The victim has been identified as Ronald Turner of Akron. The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office ruled his cause of death from a gunshot wound to the torso.
It's reported that "suspects in a vehicle fired multiple shots at the victim," but no additional information was immediately available.
The Akron Police Department believes that at least two unknown suspects were involved in the shooting.
During the shooting, two apartments close to the scene were hit by gunfire from the volley of shots.
Officials found dozens of shell casings at the scene of the shooting.
Both the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office and the Akron Police Department are investigating the shooting.
