Akron police have arrested a former basketball coach from the city's public school system on the charge that she had a sexual relationship with a female student two and a half years ago.
Twenty-eight-year-old Jessica Saffold, of Chagrin Falls, was a part-time freshman girls basketball coach at Firestone Community Learning Center (then known as Firestone High School) from July 2014 to June 2016. During that time, it is alleged that she engaged in sexual contact with a student who was just 16 years old.
The incident allegedly occurred in November of 2015, making Saffold 25 years old at the time. She has been charged with sexual battery.
