AKRON, Ohio — Firefighters were called to reports of a fire at Bob’s Hamburg in Akron late Wednesday night.
The iconic restaurant in the 1300 block of East Avenue had some smoke and water damage after an exterior door caught fire. Our crew at the scene said damage was limited and nobody was hurt.
It’s a legendary burger joint that has been serving Akron for decades. Their site says they have been using the very same griddle to cook their burgers since first opening in 1931.
Bob’s Hamburg is best known for their “Bob’s Burger.” The restaurant says this fan-favorite burger includes lettuce, mustard, onion, pickle and original “Bob Sauce,” which is described as a “smoky, tomato-based elixir.”
No additional details about the fire were immediately available, but stay with 3News as we will update this story if more information is released.
