CLEVELAND — A firefighter was injured and two people were displaced after a house caught fire in Akron Friday morning, officials said.
According to a news release from the Akron Fire Department, firefighters responded to a two-story house on Dietz Avenue just after 6 a.m. and found "heavy" fire and smoke conditions on the house's porch and first floor.
Firefighters say the two residents were able to escape the house before fire crews arrived on the scene. The two displaced adults were assisted by the Red Cross.
One firefighter suffered "minor injuries" from the fire and was transported to a local hospital.
Firefighters "quickly" put out the flames, the fire department said.
Live electric lines fell while crews battled the fire. Repair crews from Ohio Edison were called to the scene.
