AKRON, Ohio — The LeBron James Family Foundation's IPromise initiatives continue to grow and expand.
On Wednesday, East Akron Neighborhood Development Corporation(EANDC) was awarded $10 million in low-income housing tax credits by the Ohio Finance Housing Agency. The money will go towards the development of I PROMISE housing, a partnership between the two organizations.
'This development will be a national model for linking housing policy to school reform. I PROMISE Housing expands the LeBron James Family Foundation strategy to address housing instability among families and children," the EANDC said in a press release.
The development, located just a half-mile away from the IPROMISE school, will include the construction of 50 affordable housing units featuring two, three and four-bedroom apartments.
Those within the housing community will have access to " a wealth of community resources including job and family services, medical and mental healthcare, educational and career advancement training, and financial literacy programming," the development plan explains.
The project is slated to cost and estimated $13 million. To view the development proposal, click here.
