AKRON, Ohio — Ken Stewart’s Grille -- an Akron staple known for its fine dining -- is generating some conversation on social media for a recent post regarding the restaurant’s upscale dress code.
Here is what Ken Stewart’s Grille posted on their Facebook page regarding the dress code on July 27…
Dress Code
PROPER ATTIRE REQUIRED
In response to our patrons’ requests, Ken Stewart’s Grille enforces an upscale dress code for dinner service.
We do not allow beachwear, gym attire including sweatpants, sweatshirts or hoodies. Athletic apparel, jerseys, hats, beanies, bandanas, ball caps, oversized or baggy clothing are prohibited.
No excessively revealing clothing will be allowed. Clothing emitting offensive odors is not permitted to be worn anywhere on the property.
Admittance to Ken Stewart’s Grille is at the discretion of management who reserves the right to refuse service to patrons who are inappropriately dressed regardless of the reservation status.
Thank you for patronage & cooperation.
On Monday afternoon, Ken Stewart’s Grille shared a follow-up post to elaborate a bit more on the dress code. Here was their updated message...
With last week’s post, we wanted to take a moment to be as transparent as possible about the culture we’re so proud to cultivate. At Ken’s, guests arrive with high expectations, seeking top-notch cuisine, and exceptional service. It is our heartfelt commitment and responsibility to safeguard and surpass these expectations for you.
We’ve received feedback from our customers about their experience from guests dining in overexposed clothing or smells that take away from that dining experience, resulting in patrons asking to be reseated. These concerns are what is behind our dress code. (And yes, the only herb we want you smelling like is tarragon.)
To clarify, here’s a few answers on the questions we’ve received—denim and dress shorts are appropriate, but we do ask that ball caps are removed in the restaurant. You don’t need a blazer or button down, but please no gym and beach-like attire.
We employ over 200 people in Northeast Ohio, and with our incredible team, we are striving to ensure Ken’s is a positive experience for you, your loved ones, and our entire community, including treating everyone with dignity and respect—in an environment of dignity and respect.
As always, ALL are welcome at Ken Stewart’s, and we look forward to seeing you and answering any additional questions you have!
