AKRON, Ohio — Akron Police Department detectives are searching for at least two suspects after a shooting Wednesday afternoon in which a 29-year-old man was killed and a 19-year-old man was hurt.
Authorities say the shooting took place as unknown suspects opened fire around 6:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Chittenden Street as the two were walking down the street.
Upon responding to the scene, officers found the two victims with gunshot wounds. Both men were taken to an Akron hospital where the 29-year-old victim later died.
The 19-year-old victim had a graze wound and is expected to survive, according to Akron police. The victims names have not been released at this time.
Several homes were struck by gunfire, police noted, and dozens of shell casings were also found at the scene.
