Two men are in police custody Tuesday after a man was shot while riding a Metrobus in Akron.
According to reports, officers were working at the Metro Transit Center, located on Broadway Street, just after 5 p.m. when they heard gunfire. The officers ran towards the sound and saw two men, one armed with a gun, fleeing the scene on foot.
The officers chased the two men and both were apprehended across the street from the bus station without further incident. They were taken to the police station for questioning.
According to reports, the victim and the suspects were involved in an altercation while on the bus. During the altercation, one of the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the victim several times in the chest before fleeing the scene.
While the aforementioned males were being arrested, additional officers located the 21-year-old victim on the Metrobus suffering multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. He was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General for treatment, where he is listed in critical condition.
The victim's name is not yet being released at this time, pending positive identification and family notification.
