AKRON, Ohio — A 58-year-old man is dead following a shooting Wednesday afternoon in Akron.
Police say they found the victim with an apparent gunshot wound at a home on the 600 block of Sumner Street, just outside the University of Akron campus. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has been identified as Daniel Stein of Studio City, California. The Summit County Medical Examiner reports that his cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head.
While investigating, officers identified a 22-year-old male at the alleged shooter, with the incident occurring following "an apparent altercation" between him and the victim. The suspect was identified as Eric Pursley of Akron. Pursley was arrested and charged with murder.
He has been transferred to the Summit County Jail where he is currently being held.
