AKRON, Ohio — A 39-year-old man has died after Akron police say he was struck by a vehicle while crossing East Exchange Street between Sumner and Allyn around 7:39 a.m. Monday.
Akron police say the man was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries where he was admitted to the ICU after the incident.
Police say he later died from his injuries, according to new details released Tuesday morning. His name has not been released.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as a 42-year-old woman, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, according to Akron police.
“Alcohol and speed do not appear to be a factor in the crash,” the Akron Police Department said in a press release.
An investigation of the incident is underway.
No additional details were immediately available.
