AKRON, Ohio — The fun of prom season is just around the corner.

To help students and families get ready for the occasion, Altrusa International is holding its Princess Night Project prom dress giveaway on Saturday, March 14 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Family of Faith United Methodist Church on 800 E. Market St. in Akron.

Event organizers say more than 1,000 gowns will be available, and the organization only asks for the name of the girl's school and how she heard about the project. Dresses will be given out on a first come, first serve basis.

"Personal shoppers" will be on hand to help with the selection of the dress, shoes and other accessories. Complimentary makeup and fragrance samples will be given for use on prom night, and seamstresses can take care of minor alterations.

Altrusa is accepting tax-deductible donations of new or gently-used prom gowns, shoes, jewelry, purses and wraps. You may drop off your donations to the church on March 13 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

For more information, contact Linda Rittenour at 330-733-1353 or Alice Luse at 330-869-5161.
