Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay, it's seemingly a wonderful day for the University of Akron.
After two of the school's Zippy mascot costumes were reported missing over the weekend, one has been located.
"An individual in the Zippy program who originally believed he did not have one of the costumes realized yesterday he had forgotten to return a costume after performing at an event," director of media relations Dan Minnich said in an emailed statement.
The iconic, seven-foot tall kangaroo is a fan favorite at university sporting events and is also very popular in the Akron community.
The kangaroo is a “she”. Her claim to fame is winning the 2007 Capitol One Mascot Challenge where she was voted the #1 college mascot in America.
The costumes are valued at roughly $2,500 each, according to a police report.
