Police arrest 4 men, recover loaded weapons inside stolen vehicle in Akron

Three adult males were taken to the Summit County Jail while one underage suspect was taken to Summit County's Juvenile Detention Center.

Late Monday evening, officers with the Akron Police Department responded to a call in the 100 block of Magnolia Avenue for reports of a suspicious-looking vehicle. According to a release, upon arrival, police discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen.

Police observed two men, Jaijuan Coachman Cleveland, 18, and Noah Duckworth, 19, leaving the rear passenger side of the vehicle and the men were detained. Two more men, Danny Moore, 18, and an unidentified 17-year-old were seen leaving a home and walking up to police. These men were also detained, according to officials.

During an initial investigation, police recovered an AR-15 style magazine, ammunition and a loaded pistol magazine from Cleveland. On Duckworth, police recovered a box of 9mm ammunition, a single bullet and other paraphernalia. Police also found multiple firearms inside of the car. 

In all, five firearms were recovered from the stolen vehicle.

Police charged Cleveland with Improper Handling of Firearms in a Motor Vehicle. Duckworth was also charged with Improper Handling Firearms in a Motor Vehicle and having Weapons Under Disability. 18-year-old Moore was charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Improper Handling of Firearms in a Motor Vehicle.  They were taken to the Summit County Jail.

The unidentified 17-year-old was charged with Obstructing Official Business in connection with the incident and sent to the Summit County Juvenile Facility.

Akron police say they remain committed to enhancing public safety and taking illegal guns off the streets is part of that ongoing effort.
