CLEVELAND — A stretch of East Buchtel Avenue in the city of Akron will be closed for the weekend after the road collapsed, according to a social media post by Mayor Shammas Malik's office.
According to Mayor Malik's office, the road collapsed in the 600 block of East Buchtel Avenue on Friday evening.
The mayor's office said crews are backfilling the collapse with stone and placing steel plates on the road until a full repair can be made.
The road is closed and no through traffic is allowed on East Buchtel Avenue from East Market Street to Straw Alley. Businesses and apartments in the area can still be accessed.
Malik's office posted pictures of the collapsed road on social media.
