Officials tell WKYC the sale was stopped after Premier Ventures LLC, the company that owns the building, filed for bankruptcy.

Summit County foreclosed on the property, purchased by Premier Ventures in 2010, because of $1.4 million in unpaid taxes and liens.

Opening bid Tuesday had been set at $1,024,163.04.

Rolling Acres Mall first opened its doors in August 1975 before closing forever in October 2008.

The former retail haven skyrocketed into the national spotlight after local photographer Johnny Joo captured haunting images inside that depict years of decay. Most recently, Joo snapped pictures of Rolling Acres Mall filled with snow last winter.
