AKRON, Ohio — May the 4th be with you.
Grab your lightsabers! The city of Akron is putting its own unique spin on Star Wars Day this year by offering weddings themed to the popular movie franchise.
The May 4 weddings take over the Highland Square Theatre on West Market Street from 10 a.m. until noon.
Akron Municipal Court Administrative/Presiding Judge Ron Cable is presiding over the weddings.
Prior to the wedding ceremony itself, all couples had to obtain a marriage license from Summit County Probate Court. A $25 fee was also required for those in the court’s jurisdiction (Akron, Fairlawn, Bath, Richfield, Springfield Township, Lakemore and the Summit County portion of Mogadore) or $40 for those who are not.
The city of Cleveland recently hosted virtual Valentine's Day weddings as multiple couples tied the knot across Zoom, which you can watch below:
