AKRON, Ohio — A student has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon after authorities say she allegedly attempted to bring a loaded handgun into the SOAR School in Akron.
It was around 9 a.m. Tuesday when the Summit County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene where the gun had reportedly been located by a security guard at the entrance of the school.
Suspected edible marijuana was also allegedly found in the girl’s bag.
“The student claimed she did not know the items were in her book bag,” according to a press release from the Summit County Sheriff’s Department.
The student was taken to the Summit County Juvenile Detention Center as the suspected edible marijuana will be sent to a lab for testing.
Her age was not released.
No additional information was immediately available.
