AKRON, Ohio — Police and federal officials have arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide that took place in Akron this past spring.
Officers and U.S. Marshals apprehended 25-year-old Antonio Miller Friday afternoon at a home on the 500 block of Roslyn Avenue. Authorities believe Miller shot and killed 50-year-old Tina Case as she pulled into her Koerber Avenue driveway during the late evening hours of April 7.
"Based on early indications, it appears that the suspect knew the victim and may have waited for her to return home before ambushing her as she pulled into the driveway," Akron police said at the time of Case's murder, adding she had been shot multiple times. "Based on the facts and circumstances, detectives were able to quickly develop a person of interest in connection to this tragic incident and are actively seeking him at this time."
It took five months before police were able to finally track down Miller, who was identified as a suspect "based on information and other leads they developed during the early stages of the investigation." Detectives have not indicated his exact relationship to Case.
Miller is currently being held in the Summit County Jail on a charge of aggravated murder. Depending on how prosecutors decide to proceed, he could potentially face the death penalty, if convicted.
The case remains under investigation.
