AKRON, Ohio — Now at the University of Akron, it's never been easier to have orange chicken and a pumpkin spice latte delivered to your dorm.
Starting today, a robot food delivery service is active for deliveries to campus buildings and residence halls.
The University has paired with Starship Deliveries app and Aramark to provide on-demand robots that can deliver orders from several campus restaurants including Starbucks, Qdoba, Panda Express, Auntie Anne’s and Freshens.
“We’re happy to add another great university in Ohio,” said Chris Neider, vice president of business development at Starship Technologies. “The Zips have a very strong STEM program, and we think the campus community will enjoy being able to use this autonomous technology on a daily basis.”
The delivery service works with student meal plans or by credit card through the app.
The Starship Deliveries app has come to several other college campuses already seeing service at Purdue University, James Madison University, University of Mississippi and Arizona State University and others.
Starship is available on both Apple IOS and Android via the Google Play store.
The University of Akron released an instructional video on their Instagram page that can be watched below.
