U.S. Marshals capture fugitive wanted for Akron shooting in northern Indiana

Marshals have been searching for 53-year-old Robert Lee Greathouse since he cut off his court-ordered ankle monitor in April.

AKRON, Ohio — A suspect who had been on the run for more than a month after charges of felonious assault in Akron, was arrested in northern Indiana on Monday by U.S. Marshals.

Marshals have been searching for 53-year-old Robert Lee Greathouse since he cut off his court-ordered ankle monitor in April. He had been given a short-term furlough prior to beginning a prison sentence.

Investigations into Greathouse’s whereabouts took investigators into various cities in Ohio, West Virginia and ultimately his arrest in Bourbon, Indiana. Greathouse will remain in custody in Indiana until he can be extradited back to Akron.

Greathouse, who is believed to be a member of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club, was arrested in September of 2018 by agents of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) based on charges of felonious assault after a shooting in Akron.

Members of the task force tracked Greathouse to a rural cabin in Cadiz, Ohio for the arrest. Two pistols and a rifle were recovered out of the home at the time of his arrest.
