Man accused of killing family of 7, couple in Akron arsons makes court appearance

He's accused of starting two fires that killed a total of nine people.

AKRON -- The man accused of killing a family of seven and a couple during a pair of Akron house fires appeared in court for a hearing Tuesday.

Stanley Ford, 58, was arrested in May on several charges, including aggravated arson and aggravated murder. Ford was the neighbor to the Huggins-Boggs family, which perished in a house fire on Fultz Street on May 15.

Tuesday's suppression hearing was in regards to oral statements he made to police.

The fire killed father Dennis Huggins, 35, mother Angela Boggs 38, Cameron Huggins, 1, Alivia Huggins, 3, Kylle Huggins, 5, Daisia Huggins, 6, and Jered Boggs, 14. A sixth child was not home at the time of the fire.

Ford was also indicted on charges for the deaths of Lindell Lewis and Gloria Jean Hart, who died in another Fultz Street arson a year prior to the second deadly blaze.

Ford was also connected to a vehicle arson that was reported on Jan. 23, 2017, when he allegedly set fire to an SUV in a Russell Avenue driveway.
