Akron police: Woman dies from gunshot wound, suspect arrested

The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Aaron Ridenour who was charged with murder and felonious assault.

AKRON, Ohio — A suspect has been arrested in relation to a fatal shooting that took place in Akron Saturday morning.

According to the Akron Police Department, officers responded to the Heights Bar and Grill in the 1300 block of Newton Street at approximately 1:10 a.m. in response to a reported shooting.

When officers arrived to the scene, they found a 44-year-old woman inside of the business with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Summa Health Akron City Hospital. She later died as a result of her injuries.

During an initial investigation into the shooting, officers were able to identify a suspect. 28-year-old Aaron Ridenour was found in the back of a pickup truck on Rhodes Avenue where he was arrested without incident according to Akron police.

Ridenour was taken to the Summit County Jail where he was charged with murder and felonious assault.
