AKRON, Ohio — After standing for 70 years, the former home of Akron Ellet High School is passing into history this summer as crews demolish the building.
But soon, you'll be able to own a part of that history for yourself.
Bricks from the old Ellet High School building will be available for the community to take starting July 13th through July 31st. Pick up will be Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The bricks are available only while staff are on duty on a first-come/first-served basis. When the supply of bricks is exhausted, the availability will end. Community members visiting the building are to follow the pick-up directions provided by the Hammond Construction team members.
Bricks are free, however the Ellet Alumni Association is offering the option to add an engraved plate (Ellet High School 1950-2019) to your brick. Engraved plated bricks will cost $10.00 each. The cost to mail you a brick will be $20.00 each brick. The engraving plates will be available starting in mid-July.
If you have any questions please contact the school (330) 761-2770 and/or Ellet PTSA Beth Stanley (330) 733-5678.
Engraved bricks from the old building can be ordered by sending a check to Ellet PTSA: 309 Woolf Ave. Akron, Oh 44312

The old Akron Ellet High School building was in operation from 1950-2019. A new building opened up in time for the 2019-20 school year. Ellet officials say baseball fields will move to the site of the old high school building following its demolition.
