Officials with the YWCA of Alliance are searching for answers today after an antisemitic message was spray-painted on the side of their historic building in downtown Alliance.

According to a Facebook post, the building was one of many in the downtown Alliance area to have been vandalized with spray paint overnight.

"We, at the YWCA of Alliance are saddened and outraged that someone or a group of individuals used our building at 239 E. Market Street to propel hate and an anti-semetic message," the post reads.

The post goes on to state that the officials are especially heartbroken, as the building "has stood as a beacon of hope, love, and inclusion in the Alliance Community for 95 years."

The image, which we have chosen not to show due to its graphic nature, depicts a white Star of David crossed out with red paint. The post from the YWCA can be found here. Editor's note: The image may be considered graphic to some viewers.

Within just hours of the YWCA's original Facebook update, two members of the Alliance community showed up to assist in taking down the message, scrubbing the graffiti off of the historic building in downtown Alliance.

"Thank you to member and YWCA volunteer Korena Pow and son Noah. They jumped in to the clean up process quickly and swiftly to help wipe away the ugly on the exterior of the building," the YWCA of Alliance shared in a post Tuesday afternoon.

The YWCA of Alliance is asking anyone who may have information related to this incident to reach out to the Alliance Police Department at (330) 821-9140.
