Joshua Gurto, the man accused of raping and killing his girlfriend's infant daughter, has been extradited back to Ohio and is currently in the Ashtabula County Jail.
County Prosecuting Attorney Nicholas A. Iarocci confirmed Gurto was transported Thursday morning from Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, where he was captured on Oct. 27. Iarocci added his office had secretly indicted Gurto on Tuesday of two counts of aggravated murder, three counts of murder, and one count each of rape, felonious assault, and domestic violence.
Gurto is charged in connection with the Oct. 7 rape and murder of 13-month-old Sereniti Jazzlynn-Sky Sutley in Conneaut. Gurto had been dating Sutley's mother at the time, and later fled to Pennsylvania after being chagred with Sutley's death.
Gurto was arrested without incident at a gas station in Franklin Park, Pennsylvania nearly three weeks after the murder. Authorities believe he had been hiding out in the area's woods for several days.
Gurto is scheduled to be arraigned on November 17. If convicted, Gurto could face the death penalty.
