ASHTABULA, Ohio — Police in Ashtabula say they have arrested three people in connection with two separate shootings that occurred this week within the city. While it does not appear anyone was injured, multiple homes were hit by gunfire, per officials, and the suspects face a litany of charges.

According to authorities, the first incident occurred this past Tuesday, when witnesses claimed 18-year-old Javon Singletary fired his gun at a residence in the 800 block of West 58th Street. A 16-year-old boy then returned fire, and Singletary was arrested later that night.

The department says Singletary was arraigned Thursday on accusations of felonious assault, improperly discharging a firearm into a habitation, and tampering with evidence. He is currently in the Ashtabula City Jail, while the 16-year-old is also facing unspecified charges.

This morning, officials tell us a second shooting occurred within the 5900 block of Adams Avenue (about a block away from the earlier incident), with more rounds again fired into a home. The suspect was identified as 21-year-old Brian Poole Jr., of Wickliffe, with witnesses saying he had gotten into an argument with those at the residence before shooting at them.

Poole was arrested this morning at his home in Wickliffe, with police and federal officials finding what they believe to be the gun used in the incident. Poole is also in the Ashtabula City Jail facing the same charges of felonious assault, improperly discharging a firearm into a habitation, and tampering with evidence.

Both of these incidents remain under investigation.
