ASHTABULA COUNTY, Ohio — One person is dead and two more are injured following a crash in Ashtabula County late Saturday night.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on Huntley Road in Windsor Township when a Chevrolet Silverado went off the left side of the road and into a ditch. The truck then partially overturned, and one person was ejected.

Officials say nine people were inside the vehicle, and none were wearing seat belts. Four of the passengers were juveniles, and one died at the scene. That person's exact age and identity have not yet been released.

The driver of the truck, identified as 19-year-old East Rochester native Vernon Hershberger, was taken to University Hospitals' Geauga Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. An 18-year-old male passenger was also taken to the same hospital with similar injuries, while the remaining six passengers were not hurt.

While the crash remains under investigation, police say alcohol and/or drug use appears to have played a roll.
