Mother, 2 children killed in Ashtabula house fire

The exact cause of the fire is not known at this time.

Three people have died following a house fire Tuesday in Ashtabula, officials confirm.

Fire Chief Shawn Gruber says the fire broke out in the second floor back bedroom of the home on Washington St. around 10:45 p.m. Crews later discovered a woman and two children—3 and 4-year-old boys—dead in that bedroom.

The woman's four other children (all 10 years old or under) who were on the first floor managed to escape to a neighbor's house. The exact cause of the fire is not known at this time.

The woman has been identified as 36-year-old Kelly Estep, while the boys have been identified as Zander and Frankie Wlotzko. The blaze apparently started in the boys' bedroom, and Kelly ran up to grab them before collapsing in the doorway.

The boys' father and Kelly's husband was not home at the time of the incident.
