CLEVELAND — Black History Month is officially here, and Northeast Ohio has many ways to celebrate throughout the month of February.
Throughout the weeks ahead, many organizations in Northeast Ohio will celebrate and honor the contributions and impacts Black people have made in America.
3News has compiled a list of ways to celebrate Black History Month, which you can see below. As more events are announced, 3News will update this list.
Cuyahoga County
Cleveland Cavaliers 19th Annual Black Heritage Celebration
- The Cleveland Cavaliers will kick off their multi-week Black Heritage Celebration on Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. against the Detroit Pistons.
During home games in February, the Cavs will celebrate and showcase Black excellence in the areas of Economic Empowerment, Education, Mentorship and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The team will recognize these efforts through halftime performances, in-game recognitions, special video presentations, as well as on team social media channels, Cavs.com, in TV and radio game broadcasts and shows.

Join us for happy hour at the Cleveland History Center to celebrate Black History Month with our History on Tap event! Focusing on the life and works of Allen E. Cole and the ongoing perspective of black culture through art in Cleveland, we will host interdisciplinary artists from Cleveland’s ever-expanding visual arts community.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Celebrates the Sounds of Black History Throughout February
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is celebrating all of February with virtual events and programs that honor African Americans' contributions to rock & roll music.
At the museum, fans can also visit the “It’s Been Said All Along: Voices of Rage, Hope & Empowerment" exhibit from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., which invites guests to listen and amplify.
Rock Hall is also hosting Sounds of Black History, which includes the following performances:

2023 African American Read-In at Cuyahoga Community College Eastern Campus

Join us for the 2023 African American Read-In at Eastern Campus -- a celebration of African American literature in honor of Black History Month. This is a national program founded by the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) and hosted by East Liberal Arts, Student Engagement and Black American Council.
