HURON, Ohio — The body of 18-year-old Alvin Martin was found two days after he went missing in Lake Erie near Nickel Plate Beach on Sunday afternoon.
Authorities responded to the scene after the Coast Guard received a call from a fisherman Tuesday morning who reported seeing the body near the mouth of the Huron River.
Martin's body was recovered around 7:20 a.m. approximately 50 yards north of the East Pier in Lake Erie.
Martin, of Ashland, was riding a raft with a group of men assisting others struggling in the water. Before making it back to shore, Martin went underwater and did not resurface.
