The department says the child was airlifted to Akron Children's Hospital.

CANTON, Ohio — City officials confirm an 11-year-old girl was badly injured in a Canton house fire that took place Friday evening.

According to a press release, the blaze broke out within the 900 block of 3rd Street Northwest just after 7:45 p.m., with authorities reporting "heavy fire" coming from the second story of the home. After firefighters were unable to reach the child by going up the stairs, they used a ladder to get inside, and found the girl in an upstairs bathroom.
