Residents displaced following fire at apartment building in Canton: What we know

While no residents were injured, one firefighter had minor burns.

CANTON, Ohio — On Monday morning, the Canton Fire Department responded to a fire at a triplex apartment building at 923 6th Street Northwest. 

Officials say they were notified of the blaze at 1:57 a.m. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found flames engulfing the first and second floors.

According to the Canton Fire Department, four adults evacuated before crews arrived. As a result of the blaze, the building has severe fire and water damage and is currently uninhabitable. A nearby car was also destroyed.

The estimated loss to the structure is $50,000. Additionally, it is estimated that $20,000 worth of contents were destroyed. 

While no residents were injured, one firefighter had minor burns, but stayed on duty. 

The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
