Canton ice skating rink re-opens for first time in 7 years

After a 7 year hiatus, the ice skating rink will open to the public Thursday.

CANTON, Ohio -- Things are getting frozen in Stark County.

After a seven-year hiatus, Canton's ice skating rink will open to the public Thursday, which is just in time for "Light Up Downtown."

After the "Light Up Downtown" festivities that begin at 5 p.m. Thursday, the rink will be open as follows:

  • Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
  • Friday-Saturday from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
  • Sunday from noon - 6 p.m.

Admission is free, and figure skate / hockey skate rentals are $3 per person.

Six different organizations and Canton officials have worked together to make this possible. They include, Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Canton Special Improvement District, Coon Restoration, Canton Parks & Recreation, Arcade Coneys and Center Ice Sports.
