Man killed in overnight shooting in Canton: Police ask for public's help with information

CANTON, Ohio — A 35-year-old man has died following an overnight shooting in Canton.

Police say officers responded to the scene in the 1900 block of Otto Place NE shortly after 12:30 a.m. Friday.

Upon their arrival, officers found the victim – identified as Bryson Barksdale of Canton – inside a residence.

“The victim was unresponsive and suffered from an apparent gunshot wound to the neck,” according to a press release from the Canton Police Department.

Barksdale was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation is underway, and police are asking for the public’s help with any information in connection with the shooting. Tips can be made by calling the Canton Police Detective Bureau at 330-489-3144.

No additional details were immediately available.
