CANTON, Ohio -- A temporary detour was in place for several hours Wednesday morning as authorities closed I-77 South at 13th Street in Canton.
The Canton post of the Highway Patrol says a trooper found an abandoned 2005 Kia mini-van on the interstate around 3:43 a.m.
It had multiple bullet holes on the passenger side with blood inside the vehicle.
Investigators say the victim was fired at while driving on I-77, and fled on foot from the vehicle to a nearby residence for help.
The victim had been shot in the hand and grazed on the back of the head. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
ODOT indicated the closure was due to a crash, which they first reported at 5:27 a.m.
The closure sparked a heavy traffic delay that stretched for several miles.
