CANTON, Ohio — The Pro Football Hall of Fame will be closed for at least 12 days starting this Monday, in compliance with Gov. Mike DeWine's order against mass gatherings due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The museum made the announcement Friday, saying, "The health and safety of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s visitors, as well as staff and volunteers, is a top priority."

While several locations are exempt from Gov. DeWine's order banning gatherings of more than 100 people, museums are not. While they are not being forced to close, several (including the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame) have decided to do so rather than limit the amount of people in the buildings.

The hall will be open until 5 p.m. Saturday and again from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday before shutting its doors to the public. Officials say they "will continue to closely monitor the situation and maintain ongoing communication with state and local health officials."

26 people have tested positive for coronavirus so far in Ohio. The state and the country are both under a state of emergency.
