Greater Cleveland Foodbank cancels weekly food distribution ahead of 'extreme cold'

The organization said it was unable to secure shelter due to labor and equipment shortage.

CLEVELAND — The Greater Cleveland Food Bank announced Wednesday that it is canceling its weekly food distribution at the City of Cleveland Municipal Lot.

The cancellation comes ahead of 'extreme cold' that is expected to impact the region on Thursday.

"The temperature is forecasted to be below 20* with wind-chills/ “real feel” below 10* and we were unable to successfully secure shelter by ways of a tent due to labor and equipment shortages," foodbank officials said in a press released.

The Foodbank has compiled a list of food pantry and hot meal sites that residents can take advantage of in lieu of the temporary cancellation. You can find the list of resources in the document below.

The organization also operates a food pantry in the City of Euclid, located at  25897 Euclid Ave, which will be open on Thursday, January 20 from 1:00 p.m. – 7:00 pm. Please bring a photo ID and bags if you have them available to you.
