CLEVELAND — Justin Robert Brown, 28, of Cleveland is in custody today after attempting to run over two police officers with a car.
According to Cleveland Police, on December 22, officers were sent to 12000 Sprecher area of Cleveland in connection to a warrant they had on Brown. While monitoring the home they were sent to, officers observed the suspect enter a vehicle outside of the home and drive away with a female in the passenger seat.
Detectives attempted to pull the vehicle containing the suspect over in a traffic stop, and the car came to a stop momentarily. While officers were exiting their police vehicle, the suspect put his car in reverse and accelerated in an attempted to run over the two officers.
The suspect hit the police vehicle and ran over the foot of one officer who was knocked to the ground. That officer also became attached to the car door and was dragged several feet with the car. The other officer was able to successfully jump out of the way, but sustained a knee injury.
A search of the vehicle and suspect recovered a gun and suspected methamphetamine.
The man was treated for his injuries at MetroHealth and then booked at Cuyahoga County Jail. The female passenger was interrogated and released.
The two officers were treated at MetroHealth for non-life-threatening injuries, and are expected to recover.
This matter remains under investigation.
