According to the Cleveland Division of Police, the incident happened at around 11 p.m. on Wednesday evening. A Ford Explorer, driven by a 61-year-old man, was being pursued by East Cleveland police as it was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Euclid Avenue near UH Drive.

The SUV failed to stop at a red light and collided with the front ends of a pair of vehicles. It crashed into a Volkswagen Jetta, driven by a 29-year-old woman with the baby girl in a car seat in the back. The Explorer also hit a Nissan Altima, driven by a 38-year-old man.

Police say the Jetta was pushed rearward into a tree located in the center island that divides the road. The baby was taken to UH by bystanders and confined to the intensive care unit due to internal injuries. The woman driver was treated for minor injuries at UH.

The driver of the SUV and the driver of the Altima were treated for minor injuries at UH.
