10-year-old girl shot to death in Cleveland's Jefferson neighborhood

The incident occurred on West 125th Street in the West Park area of the city. Police say no arrests have been made at this time.

CLEVELAND — 3News has confirmed a 10-year-old girl is dead following a shooting in Cleveland's Jefferson neighborhood Thursday evening.

Police say the incident occurred around 7:10 p.m. within the 3200 block of West 125th Street, part of the West Park area. Witnesses told us they heard about a dozen gunshots they originally believed were fireworks before someone began screaming from the middle of the road.

After providing first aid to the victim, officers rushed her to an area hospital, but she died there from her injuries. She has since been identified as Gracie Griffin.

According to authorities, no arrests have been made at this time, and the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting have not yet been clarified. Please stay with WKYC for updates as this story continues to develop.
