CLEVELAND — A 14-year-old boy is dead after being shot on Cleveland's east side early Sunday evening.
Police say the shooting occurred just before 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of East 93rd Street and Edmunds Avenue in the Hough neighborhood. The victim was rushed from the scene via ambulance after being hit in the leg and chest, but the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner confirms he eventually died at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.
The boy has since been identified as Braylon Hardges. In a post shared to the Cleveland, Ohio Remembrance Page, his family described him as someone who "had big dreams for himself and wanted nothing more than to create a better life for himself and his family."
"Braylon gave great hugs and showed large amounts of compassion to those he cared about," the post continued.
While the M.E.'s office has called Braylon's death an "apparent homicide," authorities have not yet named any suspects in the case. The Hardges family has set up a GoFundMe to help pay for funeral expenses.
