CLEVELAND — Police have arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with a deadly stabbing that claimed the life of a 16-year-old boy Wednesday afternoon in Cleveland.
Authorities say responding officers observed “a large group of juveniles running around” at the crime scene in the 4400 block of Pearl Road outside of a Sunoco gas station.
The victim was found on the ground with a stab wound. The teen later died at the hospital.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspect was involved in a fight where he claimed several people attacked him,” police said. “At some point, the suspect obtained a knife and stabbed the victim.”
The suspect was taken to Fairview Hospital where he was treated and released for “superficial wounds.” He was later booked at the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center.
He faces murder and felonious assault charges. He is scheduled to appear in court again, September 30.
The incident remains under investigation.
