15th annual Cops Ride motorcycle event honors fallen police officers in Cleveland

Five police officers who died in 2022 were honored during the event.

CLEVELAND — On Sunday morning, nearly 300 motorcyclists took to the streets of Cleveland for the 15th Annual Cops Ride.

The event was held at the Greater Cleveland Police Officers Memorial with 3News' own Monica Robins will serving as the emcee at the event and singing the National Anthem. 

The following individuals spoke during the event: 

  • Cleveland Police Chaplin Father Doug Brown
  •  Joe Mannion, President of the Peace Officers Memorial Society
  • Cleveland Police Commander Jarod Schlacht
  • Angie McDowell, President of Ohio C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors) survivor of Whitehall Police Officer Terry McDowell killed in the Line-of-Duty August 24, 2001

The event honored five fallen police officers who passed away during 2022:

  • Deputy Sheriff Terrance Nicholas Franklin County Ohio- Last call 1/15/2022
  • Agent John Dale Stayrook Medina County Drug Force-Last call 2/6/2022
  • Police Officer Dominic M Francis Bluffton Police-Last call 3/31/2022
  • Deputy Sheriff Matthew Eugent Yates- Last call 7/24/2022
  • Deputy Sheriff Daniel J Kin -Last call- 12/15/2022

A police-escorted processional ride will began at 11 a.m. and will travel through Cleveland, Lakewood, Rocky River, Bay Village, Avon Lake, Avon, North Ridgeville, Olmsted Township, Olmsted Falls, Berea, Middleburg Heights, Brook Park and arriving at Rock N Roll City Harley Davidson (Cops Ride Host Dealership)  in Cleveland at 12:30 p.m. for food and entertainment.
