CLEVELAND — A 16-year-old accused of killing a man while driving a stolen Kia car in Cleveland has been arrested.
The incident occurred on July 10, 2023, when officers responded to the area of E.78th Street and Union Avenue for the report of a crash. Upon arrival, officers found a Kia vehicle that had crashed into a utility pole and nearly split in two. A firearm was also recovered nearby, just outside the vehicle.
Additionally, another vehicle occupied by a 30-year-old man and 31-year-old woman was located close by. An investigation determined that the Kia vehicle has been stolen by a 16-year-old male, who allegedly crashed the car into the other vehicle, killing the 30-year-old man. The 31-year-old female suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
On Thursday, the 16-year-old wanted for aggravated vehicular homicide as a result of the crash was arrested by members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force at an address near the 2900 block of Minnie Ave.
“The juvenile involved in this incident was out at 3am, driving in a stolen vehicle at a high rate of speed, which lead to a senseless death," U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said in a statement. "We are committed to working with our partners to pursue and arrest those violent offenders causing reckless crimes in our community.”
