CLEVELAND — Two brothers from Cleveland were indicted Wednesday on a slew of charges including kidnapping and murder in connection to the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old man last month, Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O'Malley's office announced.
Marvin Flemings Jr., 26, and Marquell Flemings, 23, are accused of fatally shooting 18-year-old Tamer Almadi and injuring a 38-year-old man during a robbery at ELITE, a clothing store on Euclid Avenue, on the morning of Sept. 30.
“This case, unfortunately, is another example of the senseless gun violence that is plaguing our community,” O'Malley said in a statement. “As a result of the Flemings brothers’ actions, an 18-year-old young man tragically lost his life.”
Marvin Flemings Jr. was indicted on the following charges:
- Three counts of Aggravated Murder
- Four counts of Murder
- Two counts of Kidnapping
- One count of Aggravated Robbery
- Four counts of Felonious Assault
- One count of Attempted Murder
- One count of Grand Theft When the Property is a Firearm or Dangerous Ordnance
- One count of Tampering With Evidence
- One count of Having Weapons While Under Disability
Marquell Flemings' charges are as follows:
- Two counts of Aggravated Murder
- Three counts of Murder
- Two counts of Kidnapping
- Four counts of Felonious Assault
- One count of Attempted Murder
According to prosecutors, the brothers entered the store around 11:30 a.m. wearing masks and looking for the 38-year-old. The pair allegedly pulled out guns and held Almadi at gunpoint before Marvin Flemings Jr. went to the back room to look for the man. O'Malley's office said "several gunshots" were fired — hitting both Almadi and the 38-year-old as well as the two brothers — before Marvin Flemings Jr. allegedly "executed" Almadi. According to prosecutors, the brothers stole guns and fled the scene.
Almadi was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The 38-year-old man was treated for his injuries and released, O'Malley's office said.
Marquell Flemings, who was seriously injured during the incident, remains at a hospital where he is currently in stable condition, the prosecutor's office said. Marvin Flemings Jr. was arrested by Cleveland police after being treated for his injuries.
